Caught the last of the wild cats living in our back yard. You may recall that the mother cat chased my dog around the yard one night, and so my husband flushed the cats out with the garden hose? Well, hey came back, and moved under the kids' playhouse. My husband borrowed a small animal trap, and lured a kitten out with some tuna, and took it out to farmer's field and let it go.

The mother was caught a few hours later, perhaps looking for her baby. She was taken (with much howling, hissing and growling) to another field and let go. The three remaining kittens disappeared for a couple of days, before showing up back in the original hole under the shed. I took them out some water, but didn't feed them--they were SO thirsty, the poor things. My husband set the trap again, and caught one within two minutes, and the remaining two in one shot about twenty minutes later. They were released together at a corporate park that has a little pond and lots of little bushes and trees in clusters where they can chase bugs and lizards and mice for food.

The reason (in case you are wondering) we didn't take them to the Humane Society is because they were feral cats, and therefore, unadoptable. We thought it preferable to let them go, than to have them put to sleep. Also, the shelters are so overrun, that most are not accepting new animals right now. Sad, but true.

Anyway, not much new has happened to me in the past few days. I took the kids to the zoo yesterday to play in the water playground there, and did some yardwork this morning. Tonight will be spent cleaning the turtle tank, which gets dirty a lot faster with a third turtle added to the mix. Still haven't taken pics, but will get around to it, soon.

If any of you are interested in reading the newest issue of the Fables comic (which I always recommend, because it's fabulous), drop me a comment here, and I will send you the links to the scans I made of it.

And, because I haven't had one for quite a while, I give you a LINK OF THE DAY! (Gasp!)

When my brother in law mentioned last night that a friend of his' sister in law needed to find a new home for their pet turtle, I asked a couple of questions; "How big is it? Is it a boy or a girl?" They said it was about six inches, and it was a girl. I agreed to take it off their hands, and went to pick her up this morning. She is HUGE compared to my babies! I know, they are hardly babies anymore, but they will always be my babies. I will take and post some pictures, soon.

Her name is Trixie. She is a red eared slider, like Godzilla, but easily twice his size. He seems a bit freaked out by her at the moment. Torkle is more curious, and I hope that he doesn't fight with her. She has snapped at him once or twice, and he backed off, but then went back for more. She is used to being the only turtle in the tank. So far, she has just bowled them over, or bulldozed her way through where she wanted to go.

I dumped another dozen feeder fish in the tank with them, and they seems to be having a good time chasing them around. I don't know if Trixie has ever had any to chase before, but she seems to be enjoying the stimulation. Seeing them all in the tank together makes it look small, though, and the sooner we get the pond put into the backyard for them, the better. I'm sure they will established a pecking order, but I will be keeping a close eye on them to make sure that no one gets hurt.

The people who gave us Trixie also gave us a good sized tank, too, so if they get too aggressive with each other, I can always take her out and give her her own space again.

In other news, I was going to take the kids to the zoo today, because it's only supposed get to 93F and is overcast. Unfortunately, the kids slept in WAY late, and then we had to go and get Trixie. When we got home, it was to find that the doggie had had an accident on her bed, so that had to be cleaned up, and now it's too late to hit the zoo and avoid the crowds. Instead, we are going to stay home and I will work on helping to teach the boys to ride their bikes without training wheels.

I hope I have enough band aids in stock.

That's my news, for now. I have a long to-do list for the next few days.

Alicia, if you are reading this, I have not forgotten about visiting you. Every time I think of calling, it is either insanely late, or early in the day. Let me know if you're going to be home this week, and if the boys are out of school yet.

**Hugs to everyone!**

Godzilla saw the vet, and he will be fine. I have to give him an injection every other day for the next two weeks. There was more, but I’m in a rush!

I am off to make Tamales with my sister!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

(I still want to make a couple of more with other images.)

Also, I got my iPod shuffle today, and I love it! It’s so cute, and I have named it “Tiny” because I have no imagination today.

Sadly, our red-eared sliders did not make it. He died peacefully today while basking on his turtle dock, and we – with much, MUCH crying - buried him in the back yard with a small decorative boulder (That weighs about 200 freakin’ pounds) as his marker. He will be missed.

Link of the day This is the closest town to where I’ll be staying in Mexico next week: http://www.puerto-penasco.com/ and the house we’re renting looks something like this (this isn’t it, but we have stayed in this one before): http://www.vrbo.com/12690 The one we are staying in is only a few houses down the beach.

Well, I got the turtles a larger tank, a filter, a little heater and a turtle dock to sit on. They seem to be happy with some deeper water to play in, and seem to enjoy the filter’s little waterfall action. I also bought them a little can of meal worms, of which I cut up one, and tossed in the tank – I hope they like them.

They are really cute little guys – I wish I had a way to put up pictures of them but you’ll have to settle for pics I found online that are very much like them.

This is what Godzilla looks like. He’s the yellow eared slider, and they apparently aren’t very photogenic, cause I had a heck of a time finding a picture to post.

This is what Red looks like. (My son hasn’t named him yet. This is the sick one, and I think he’s afraid to name him until he knows if he’ll make it.) He’s the red-eared slider.

This is KIND OF what No Name looks like. (The kids call this one “Dad’s turtle”, and he hasn’t gotten a name yet.) This one always looks pissed off, but I think it’s his markings, more than his disposition. I could be wrong, though! I’m not sure what type of turtle he is, yet. Possibly a cooter? He’s got a very beautiful and intricate design on his carapace.
