Stuff and stuff

I <3 my new icon. I made it, myself!! **hugs self** It's hard to tell, but he has a little X men belt buckle on.

I took my new prescription for Adderall today, to help combat fatigue due to my MS, and let me tell you something! I am AWAKE, despite having had only five hours of sleep last night. I also started my new diet, and am going to keep a log of everything I eat, and the calories therein.

I read in a Mayo Clinic book that a completely sedentary person can lose weight by taking their body weight in pounds, and multiplying it by 12. That number is the total number of calories that your body uses per day, just to keep you alive and functioning.

For example, if I weighed *cough*203*cough*, 203 x 12= 2436

So, to lose weight, all I have to do is consume fewer calories than that. The more calories I cut, the faster the weight will come off. 3500 calories burned = one pound lost (the same works in reverse). Any exercise above and beyond that, is just that many more calories burned--and strongly recommended. I am going to try to cut my calories down to under 1500 a day, and believe I will lose 2 - 3 pounds per week, with a bit of extra exercise.

Because 2436 - 1500 = 936 AND 936/3500= 3.7 SO: It should take me nearly four days to lose one pound. At this rate, I should be able to lose eight pounds in one month. My goal, for now, is 175. I would LOVE to get down to 160--but I haven't been there since before I had kids (excluding the time I was in the hospital and couldn't eat anything for a couple of months--but that was unhealthy).

203 is an ugly, ugly number, and to be honest, I have weighed more than that before--after my mother die two months after my youngest son was born. I had pregnancy weight on top of grieving, and eating to fill the hole that losing my mother left in my life. Well...that child is Seven years old, and I have made peace with my mother's passing. I don't have those excuses anymore.

Of course, these calculations represent the ideal...and depends on my sticking to it, and being diligent. Also, I know that if I don't write down everything I put in my mouth (you know,FOOD-wise) before I eat it, that I will cheat, terribly.

Wish me luck! Also, the numbers get adjusted as the weight comes off.
I am currently working on making a wand (ala Harry Potter) for [livejournal.com profile] lai_lore, because I loves her!! I will try to take pics of it before I send it out, because I think it is looking pretty good! I am using a very pointy bit on my dremmel tool to hand carve/etch a pretty design into the base.

In about an hour and a half, I am going to be taking my son to scouts where he will compete in the Pinewood Derby...he has a new car this year, so keep your fingers crossed that he will do better then last year, when we had NO clue what we were doing. He came in dead last, but won the good sport award (which is really sad, though I was proud of him for his attitude).

Lastly, I leave you with two stupid jokes, both of which made me giggle:

Q: How to billboards talk to each other?
A: They use Sign Language!

Q: What is a seal's favorite subject?
A: ART! ART! ART! ART! ART!

Have a good one, everybody! *hugs*
