Oh, dear.
I got up and got dressed to take the dog for a walk, and there were two hot air balloons hanging low in the air on either end of my street. Sadie spotted one, and started barking like nuts, scared to death (she never barks) and turned to run the other way. Then she spotted the other, and FREAKED OUT. It must have been like something out of a horror film for her. Poor baby!
I am glad I was holding her leash instead of Robert, or she would have been miles away. As it was, she dragged me back to the house, and scratched at the doors until I got them both open, then she bolted for my bedroom, looking for a place to hide, and actually jumped up onto my husband’s dresser, trying to find a way to get pasts the heavy blinds and out the bedroom window (which is impossible) to escape. She knocked everything off of the dresser (whichis was very cluttered), then jumped down, jumped back up, jumped down, jumped back up…
I finally got her to lie down on the bed and settle, and I turned on the TV so that she couldn’t hear the flame thing on the balloons. She was shaking for a while after that, and still keeps looking up at the ceiling. I still need to walk her, but want to make sure the balloons are long gone before I even try.
Then I guess I’ll be cleaning up the mess she caused by jumping on the dresser.
It was exciting, anyway! I can’t wait to see how she handles thunderstorms. Yay.
