aisforamy: december 2011 (angel)
Well I’m sending my husband off for a few days to Las Vegas to attend a convention called “World of Concrete.” Sounds thrilling, doesn’t it? I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get some serious writing done while he’s gone.

I had an awesome time teaching on Saturday, and for some strange reason, had two extra people in my first class (I don’t normally allow more than six) and a full second class! Too bad I can’t teach every day! For those of you who have no clue what I’m talking about when I say that I make hand-stamped cards, here is an example of the front of a birthday card I made recently:

I submitted Chapter Ten – Sneaky Boy to FA last night, and have posted it to ff.net. It can (hopefully) be found here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2127049/10/

I did post it, and it says I have ten chapters, but when I try to access it, it tells me the chapter doent' exist. I hope that it's just because I JUST posted it, and it needs a few minutes to work.

I’ll be posting to the Lexicon later today if all goes well, but right now, I'm sleepy.

Thanks to all of you for being patient with me being a week late with this, and I hope that I won’t fall so far behind again anytime soon!

I did have some reviews to FTP and my some of my one-shots, so without further ado:

Maddys-Murphy - (FTP) Thank you! I’m glad you decided to give my fic a try – I hope you’ll give the sequel at try as well!

Kendra is cheese - (Private Reflections) – I’m glad that you, er, liked? It. I’m glad that it elicited an emotional response – that was what I was going for!
(NNW) – Thank you! I think that Neville is going to end up surprising us all in the end!
(TMTC) – Thank you!

Strange (meaning freaky) link for today - Wear glasses? Get a piercing!

Sorry about the double post today, but this has been on my mind.

Okay, I’m disturbed. Well - more disturbed.

I grew up in a house that had a ‘presence’ living in there with us. My sister says it was a ghost, and she saw it when she was a kid. I never saw it myself, but I did feel it. We all did. It lived or resided or whatever in our stairwell, which had a very high ceiling. It just floated in that open space above our stairs, for the most part, and left us alone. No big.

If there were times when I was descending the stairs that I got a terrible feeling of dread and felt like someone was trying to push me down the steps, that’s just the way things were at my house. It was just kind of accepted that whatever it was couldn’t really hurt us, just freak us out a bit.

There was also a painting that hung in out dining room that a spectral bird (like a little chickadee or something) would fly out of, circle the kitchen, and fly back into. I was the only one who ever saw that one. And there were voices that apparently only I could hear, but that was not localized to just my house. That happened everywhere, but I never felt threatened by either of those two occurrences. There were other incidents involving me – some frightening and some not, but I guess I never really connected it all until after I had moved away.

Anyway, I recently had a conversation with my sisters, and we were talking about growing up in a haunted house, and experiences each of us had had there. Okay – here comes the disturbing part. We (my sisters and I) were talking about all of this, and I said, “And what was up with that Chinese writing on the wall in the stairwell?” Silence. My sisters just looked at me with raised eyebrows. “You know!” I said. “It was there for the whole sixteen years we lived there! It was right at the base of the top step, and it looked like it was written in black magic marker!” More silence.

Apparently I was the only one to see this writing. It never occurred to me that we had painted the house at least three times since moving in, and the writing was never covered up. Freaky.

Now that I’m grown, I don’t hear the voices calling my name anymore (the last time was when I was eighteen, and even then it had become rare). I’m relatively sure the house I live in now is spirit-free. Maybe I was just a particularly sensitive child? I still see improbable things from time to time, but not like I did in my youth.

It almost makes me want to go back to New Jersey and knock on my old door and ask the current owners if they’ve noticed anything strange. Then I think that they’d either believe me and be freaked out to be told their house was haunted, or they’d think I was a nutcase and slam the door in my face.

Anyone else had paranormal experiences that they didn’t realize might be paranormal at the time? Any of you grow up “sharing a house” with someone/something else? Or am I just a freak?
