I have been re-reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and I have a question to anyone who wants to venture a guess.

Did Dumbledore know, at the time the Lily and James were killed, that Sirius was supposed to be the secret keeper for them? Not that they had decided to switch, but that Sirius was the one they originally chose?

I ask this because Hagrid shows up with baby Harry, riding Sirius’s motorbike, and he tells Dumbledore and McGonagall that he ran into Sirius, and that he was going to go back and return the bike after Harry was dropped off at Number Four, Privet Drive. Dumbledore makes no indication whatsoever that this alarms him, or that it might be a dangerous thing for Hagrid to do. At this point, I don’t think that Sirius and Peter have faced off, yet. So did Dumbledore not know that the Fidelius Charm had been put into place yet? Had he been expecting to be their secret keeper all along, and didn’t find out until after the fact that Lily and James had chosen someone else? Was the Charm done on the house only? Can it be put on a person?

This has bugged me for a while. Obviously the charm was broken once the house was destroyed and Lily and James were killed, or else Hagrid would never have been able to find their home to get Harry, and Dumbledore would not have been able to tell Hagrid where to go.

Any ideas?

On a completely unrelated topic, has anyone visited or participated in the (sort of) RPG [community profile] milliways_bar? I got accepted as a memeber (as Hagrid!), and I'm a bit nervous about jumping in.

Anyway, I submitted Chapter 18 of FTU to Fiction Alley yesterday, so hopefully it will show up in the next couple of days. I’ve got it sorted out, and am about 2/3 done with chapter 19 – it may not make next week’s update time, but I’ll do my best. I’ve got a lot of real life stuff going on right now that takes me away from my writing.

Funnily enough, with my husband sleeping during the day, I find myself outlining my chapters a bit more fully on paper, so the computer doesn’t disturb him (I’m heavy handed on the keyboard) and I find that ideas have been coming more readily to me this way. Bonus!

Link of the day: do you guys really visit the link of the day? Let me know if you want me to continue on with it.

Here’s today’s: Crappy flash game. I haven't played it yet, but what the heck:
