A bit of a rant.
Apr. 3rd, 2005 08:36 amI have so much hate for my neighbor. I truly do. Just because his car stereo CAN rattle the back bedroom’s windows in my house when my doors and windows are closed, doesn’t mean it SHOULD. Nor does it mean that I won’t dream about taking a 12-gauge shotgun to his vehicle until the noise just STOPS. It was so loud the other day that it set off my husband’s truck alarm. I kid you not. I yelled over that it was too damn loud, and guess what? He couldn’t hear me. My husband says I just need to grin and bear it, but I don’t think he realizes that I’m dreaming up ways for his stupid little car to disappear. I’m not fussed as to whether he’s in it at the time or not.
The man swears that he doesn't do it, but he speeds up and down the streets in our neighborhood (which is full of kids0, and does his wife and all of his many - friends? Customers? He's a mechanic or something that fixes those little cars with the whiney mufflers that sound like giant angry bees.
On a related note, my husband gives everyone he knows stupid nicknames. Everyone. And they usually don’t make any sense. Schmoo, for his work partner, or Magoo for his friend. He’s just weird like that. Occasionally they fit, and my neighbor has earned the title “Racer Rick” (yes, his name is Rick). He’s never said it to the guy’s face, but it’s how we all refer to him at home. Well the other day, my youngest spots said neighbor across the street and yells, “Hi, Racer Rick!”
I couldn’t help it. I laughed. Rick couldn’t see me where I was standing, and I can hear him asking his friend, “Did he just call me Racer Rick?”
I wonder what he thought of that?
Anyway, aside from that strange tale, I can announce that my beta has returned chapter nine for final correction. So, hopefully, I’ll have it posted on Monday as planned, though it may not be first thing in the morning. I’ll do my best.
Oh! And I finished chapter 20, and sent it off to my beta. I also began Chapter 21, and hope it flows well so I don’t have to go to every-two-week updates.
Lilaith Feanaro - You haven’t been the only one to be happy that Lupin is getting some affection in his life for a change. I think he’s got it going on, as well, lol! He’d be a little old for me, but I could overlook it, I think! ;) I’m so pleased that you liked Harry’s reaction and Ginny’s personality. I love them together, and I shall be most displeased if Ms Rowling bursts my bubble in that area. Thanks for your review!!
Link of the Day: http://www.abc.net.au/gameon/tork/torkgame.htm I haven't personally checked this one out yet, but I was too tired to wait for it to download and try to figure it out.
