aisforamy: december 2011 (last supper)
So! I remembered (barely) that my kids had a dental appointment today, and dropped what I was doing at he school to take them out of class and run them to their check ups. No cavities! Woot!

I had a lot to do today, and got a good portion of it done. The parents came through on the donations we asked for, for the most part, and we have enough candy for about ten carnivals. Lord knows what we are going to do with it all, but we’ll find something. I am still getting volunteers sorted out, but I think we will be all right (knock wood). We won’t have as many games as we could have, but that’s life. Without the people to run them, we can’t put them up.

Tomorrow, I have to finish getting the raffle prizes ready, make sure there is a classroom available to hold the Bingo games in, and pray that there will not be rain. Plus a few dozen other little things I am sure I have not thought of, yet. I will certainly be busy.

I have Art Masterpiece presentations to make tomorrow to the third graders, as well, which will eat up some of my time…and tonight I have to learn about a new artist and piece of art for that…after supervising kids’ homework, cooking dinner and taking Sadie to her training class.

So: Not so much with the RP. Sorry to all those I normally thread with, and those I would love to but don’t have time for at the moment. Hopefully after this weekend, I will be a lot more free.

One or two things that happened today: Rain. The sky gave one HUGE boom of thunder just as the kids were lining up to go inside this morning, and all the kids scattered to their classes in a hurry with a lot of screaming and noise. Then at a quarter after two, it decided to do this again; this accompanied by lightning and torrential downpours just in time for the kids to panic and freak out at dismissal time.

While I was working in the conference room in the office today, a little boy (second grade) was brought in by his teacher, because he’s been disruptive all day, then hit several children with is backpack, kicked a girl, and knocked a table over onto her. He was suspended from school, but the parents would not come and get him. The office had to keep him until the daycare bus came to take him to daycare. This makes be SO mad. Also, apparently the kid has severe ADHD, and the parents keep him heavily medicated. I think they need to reconsider his medication levels, or something. I dunno—but when you use school and daycare that heavily, either you’re a lazy parent, or you have a seriously sucky job that won’t allow you to address discipline problems hen they arise at your kids’ school. Either way, it’s a problem.

All right, enough of my ranting and whining. I need to get some things done around here, and if I sit here too long, I will fall asleep.

OH! One last thing. My husband's quad, that was stolen in November? They found it. It is wrecked all to hell. I know it's not very nice of me to say this, but I hope whoever was riding it (if they knew it was stolen) was hurt in the wreck that caused the damage. They charged my husband $56 to get the thing out of storage before they told him that it was wrecked, too, the jerks.

Whiny rant

aisforamy: december 2011 (hard in the face)
Sometimes I think I am losing faith in the human race.

The day before we left for Mexico, someone stole my husband’s quad. Right out of our back yard! And had to move a large piece of machinery out of the way to do so. This tells me that they knew it was there, and when we would be away from the house. Coincidentally, my next door neighbors had a landscaping job done that lasted about a week, and concluded on the same day that the quad disappeared.

Our trip to Mexico itself was lovely, after the initial four hours of my husband being too angry to string two cohesive words together on the drive down there. We managed to get across the border without having to pay a bribe (though not for lack of trying on the border guy’s part). The weather was gorgeous, the water was not too cold, and I got a sunburn the first day there, that turned into a very nice tan by the next day (hooray Spanish blood!). I learned that drinking vodka makes my face go numb, which is strange and not all together unpleasant, but not something I want to pursue all that often. I also got a nice bracelet, a henna tattoo, and five pounds of jumbo blue shrimp to bring home.

I got home, and took my kids to school for the one day left in the week before the holiday to find that the previous vice president of the PTO stole more money than I originally knew about, and had to authorize a check for $30 for a fundraiser that they never got last year.

It just never seems to end. Why do some people seem to think that it is acceptable to take what does not belong to them? Seriously – WTF? My husband’s truck was stolen in the last year, people have just taken power tools from his work trailer at job sites, now his quad was taken from the back yard. I am so tired of him working so hard, and then just flat out getting screwed. He is the most honest, hard-working man I know, and I swear if he didn’t have bad luck, he wouldn’t have any luck at all.

I’m not really going anywhere with this post, I’m just pissed off and lacking in faith in my fellow man right now.

I hope all of you are doing better.
