(no subject)

My youngest son does not like school. I don't know why...I think maybe it's that he has to compete with other kids for attention. His teacher says he's a model student, and all, but he's always grumpy after school lets out. How hard can first grade be?

Yesterday, while getting his backpack on, he looks at me and says, "I can't wait to get to school!!"

I looked at him with surprise.

Then he tells me, "That was sarcasm!"

It's really hard not to laugh when your kids to something like that.

Ah, well. His seventh birthday is coming up on Sept. 22nd, and he says he wants a gerbil for his present. My husband is not thrilled, but he hasn't flat out said "no" either. It will be fun to watch negotiations proceed.

That's all I have to say, really. Life is pretty boring right now.
