I don’t like these love memes, and I will tell you why (because it’s my journal, and I can). I don’t like them, because not only do the people who participate in them usually say these things to each other all the time anyway (or they should, if they are friends), but invariably, someone is going to be left out. Whether it’s on purpose or not, someone is going to be excluded and feel bad about it. As much as I appreciate that everyone loves everyone else and all that, I don’t like to think that someone is sitting at their computer wondering what the hell is wrong with them, because their name didn’t show up as part of something like this.

I haven’t participated in it, and it’s not because I don’t like any of you in anyway. I do. I have so much admiration for anyone who can put themselves out there and act through role play, no matter what their skill level. Come on, some of you are so brilliant – it has to be hard for some of us less educated, less experienced players to try to find our place in the community. Especially when so many have already formed such close friendships with one another, that it doesn’t seem like there is room for anyone else to fit in.

I have been on both sides of things like this in the past, and while it is good to be loved, I would rather have a private comment from someone saying, “Hey, that thread was really good!” or give some other sort of reaction/feedback.

If you love someone, or admire them, or just want to say you appreciated something they participated in? Tell them. Don’t wait for a meme that has good intentions, but will end up hurting someone in the end.

That’s all. Go on with you daily lives, citizens!

PS - I love you all!
