OMG! OMG! OMG!
I got a dog! I am SO excited! She is a yellow lab/ German shepherd mix, and I got her from my vet’s office. She was found wandering around with no collar or ID, and they were unable to find its owner. I can’t believe that no one claimed her, and no one adopted her after more than two weeks. I think it might be because she doesn’t do well with other animals—and obviously, if you’re going in and out of a vet’s office, chances are good that you have another animal.
Anyway, they named her Sadie, but she doesn’t seem to recognize it or care what you call her one way or the other. We may change it, but we’re not sure. She doesn’t seem to have any training beyond seemingly being housebroken. She doesn’t recognize “sit” or “go lay down” or “no” at all, but she isn’t poorly behaved. She is very gentle; she doesn’t jump and doesn’t seem excitable at all. I haven’t heard her bark at all, yet. She even loves the kids. She DID chase a cat up a tree near my sister’s house, and growl menacingly at another dog in Petsmart while we were buying her collar and food and water dishes—but we knew she wasn’t good with other animals, so that’s no surprise.
She is apparently tired out, though. She has passed out on the living room floor, sound asleep. I hope she does well overnight, and doesn’t get freaked out by anything, or poop in the house or anything.
In other news, one of my sisters is in town with her family, and I got to see two of my nieces I only get to see once a year, if I’m lucky (and my BIL, too, of course). I had a nice time visiting with my sister and making tamales with two of my sisters (my third sister couldn’t come help). It’s going to be a big family Christmas for me, with only my brother missing.
*lol* is it bad that I went on and on about my new dog before mentioning my family?
