Oy. I got woken up at 4:30 this morning with severe abdominal pain. It was pretty much and eleven on a scale of one to ten, and so my husband carted me off to the ER, fearing an intestinal blockage. Seeing as I have no colon, with would be a Very Bad Thing.
They took blood, urine, X-rays and a CAT scan, and gave me some Demoral (sp?) to take the edge off of the pain.
At about two in the afternoon, they said it was either ovarian cysts, or gas. Apparently it was both, but the pain went away, and they released me with an admonition to follow up with my doctor. I will likely get a stern lecture from my GP, since I have not been to my ob/gyn since my youngest son was born. Considering my maternal grandmother died of cervical cancer, I guess it would be a good idea to get regular exams, eh?
Anyway, I am at home, and feeling all right though I am tired. Pain is exhausting, and I didn't get much sleep.
