Over the weekend, Kris (my hubby) was home...which is unusual in and of itself. He is a worker, and he has two full time jobs. He's really incredible! But I digress--he was home and was taking care of a to-do list as long as his arm. Of course, the kids wanted to 'help' and to go to Home Depot, etc., so he probably didn't accomplish as much as he wanted. He did hang new screen doors on the back patio, which we desperately needed; now we can leave the back door open without being invaded by bugs. He also cleaned up the yard (including rebuilding the sprinkler system), sprayed weeds and fertilized the grass. He also got me some flowers for my little pots out front, so they look nice and cheerful again. He really is a love!

At one point on Saturday afternoon, Jared came out into the back yard and pulled the waistband of his briefs down (yes, the time of year has come where the kids run around in their underpants again) and puts his hands on his hips. Then he loudly announced , "I AM A MAN!" and proceeded to PEE in the gravel that makes up a lot of our back yard. *Facepalms*

When I pointed him out to my husband in disbelief, Kris just shrugged and said, "So?" *Facepalms AGAIN* I guess that on the bright side, we save water that way. I told Jared that we have a toilet inside for a reason, and to please use it in the future. He basically said, "okay," then walked off, giggling.

I spent this morning playing the game, "What is that smell, and were is it coming from?"
UGH. Let me tell you--I found the smell, all right. There was a frying pan on the stove with the lid on it...I thought it was clean, BUT IT WASN'T. In another couple of hours, it might have just grown legs and run away--for which I would have been grateful. NOTHING could have prepared me for the smell that assaulted me when I took the lid off of that pan.

I washed it it out, and used BLEACH to make sure the smell was gone. UGH. Sorry if all of that was TMI.

We were going to ride bikes to school for the first time this morning, but Robert remembered that he had to take his cello to school with him, and that would have been awkward, so we drove. Bikes will have to wait until tomorrow, though I may go on a ride with them today after school. I haven't ridden a bike in...probably years! Now that the kids can ride, I should start up again. I kind of need a new bike, but that will have to wait for the time being; the one I want is a little over a hundred dollars, and we just don't have that kind of money right now.

Other than that, my kids start AIMS and Terra Nova testing today, and it should last all week. Despite telling the kids that they shouldn't feel pressured over it, it's just "to show what you know," they have repeatedly sent home fliers and made announcements on the importance of being at school ON TIME every day, eating a good breakfast, getting a good night's sleep, etc. My youngest is kind of freaking out about it, and is afraid he'll have to repeat the second grade. It's kind of funny, because he just got his report card and got all A's (well, one B, too).

And because it's been a while, have a fun link! http://www.addictinggames.com/puzzle.html
