Sep. 26th, 2006 08:46 pmMy older son’s Cub Scout pack held its first ever Rain Gutter Regatta.
They gave us all little boat kits that had to be built, and then they filled a couple of rain gutters, and the kids had to blow through straws onto the sails and race them from one end to the other.
Well, after the disaster with the Pinewood Derby (a little wooden toy car race), where he came in dead last against cars that the fathers had OBVIOUSLY built, it was nice to see him win. In fact, he won every single race he competed in!
We used a pattern for the boat we found online, and made him a little catamaran by slicing the kit boat in half down the middle, so it had a wide base, and couldn’t tip over. It looked a lot like this: http://webpages.charter.net/cschott/boat/supercat.html though without the Packers theme.
He got a little medal and some bragging rights...he was very happy.
Well, that's pretty much it. Just me bragging about my kid this time.
Hope everyone else is well!
