While You Were Sleeping - The role of Lucy was written for Demi Moore. Sandra Bullock took the role, saying she could relate to it having just broken up from a four year relationship.

Anne of Green Gables Katharine Hepburn was originally approached to play Marilla Cuthbert. She declined, but suggested her relative (great-niece), 'Schuyler Grant' for the part of Anne.

Batman The original script featured a bitter rivalry between Bruce Wayne and Knox over Vicki. The character of Alexander Knox (Robert Wuhl) was a character created for the movie. In the script the character was killed during the parade scene.

The Lord of the Rings In the prologue scene, John Howe and Alan Lee can be seen as two of the nine human kings.

Millions The book that Damien reads and references throughout the film is called "Six O'Clock Saints". Popular in the UK in the 1950s, it is surprising that any parent would give a copy to their child, as the director points out, since it contains all the gruesome stories that Damien tells in class, plus many more. Its inclusion is a sort of homage to Martin Scorsese, who, according to Boyle, has cited it in interviews as one of his favorite books growing up and that it gave him a wider understanding of the human experience than had been revealed to him as a child.

Dear Frankie Jack McElhone (Frankie) is not deaf but worked with a speech coach so that his one spoken line would sound correct.

Labyrinth David Bowie was one of the three choices for Jareth. The other two were Michael Jackson and Sting.

The Last Unicorn Christopher Lee (who supplied the voice of King Haggard) showed up for the recording sessions armed with his own copy of the book, with several places marked to indicate things that must not, in his opinion, be omitted.

A Christmas Story Ralphie says that he wanted the "Red Ryder BB Gun" 28 times.

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe Rachael Henley, who plays the grown-up Lucy in the hunting scene near the end of the film, is actually the older sister of Georgie Henley, who plays the young Lucy throughout the rest of the movie.
