Dec. 1st, 2004 08:15 amWell I’ve just re-submitted chapter four to Fiction Alley a third time. Sigh. Hopefully now that I’ve sent it as an html document, it’ll solve whatever problem there is.
Does anyone know how to keep the letters from fading from my keyboard keys? I’ve rubbed them off yet again! I’ve tried writing them on with permanent marker, stickers, etc., but it always ends up as a blank key in the end, and I tend to look at the keys quite a lot with I type. My A,S,D,C,E,N and M keys are all mostly naked! Maybe nail polish would work… I might have an old bottle around here somewhere….
Enough whining about that – I’m going to whine about something else! Chapter Nine! I started writing it, and something just wasn’t working for me – I’m not sure what. So I ended up deleting the whole thing (four pages) and starting over. It’s looking okay now, but I’m way behind where I wanted to be. I kind of wanted to have through chapter twelve done by Christmas, so that I wouldn’t stress about keeping on schedule over the holidays. I’m hoping that will still work out. I think that I’m going to end up combining some of the chapters I originally intended to stand alone, to make them longer. It will be strange writing Halloween around Christmastime!
This is the time of year that people start calling me to do stuff. Volunteer work, mostly, that other people volunteer me for! So far, I’m in charge of organizing the making of 85 sets of stationary for the teachers at my sons’ school for Christmas presents (I’m secretary of the school’s PTO). That’s 425 hand-stamped cards that need to be made in less than two weeks. Have I designed those cards yet? Of course not!! Guess what I’ll be working on tonight? Sigh. Maybe when I get them designed, I’ll post some scans of the cards we end up making.
Anyway – That’s enough moaning! On with the lovely reviews! I love reviews, and I love answering your questions! Fire away!
SlytherinChaser86 (FTP) – Glad you’re enjoying it! I’ll see what I can do to slip in a bit of extra Quidditch in Foreshadowing the Unexpected, just for you!
Megglett - It’s nice to know the lure of a new chapter was strong enough to venture over to ff.net instead of waiting for FA! Yes, Rupert’s new house is no surprise – we’ll have to wait and see if he embraces it, and vice versa. Vanessa is still Vanessa, after all, but she has learned her lesson somewhat, and I’ve been told that she’s busy building her little circle of friends after last year’s fiasco. I don’t think she’ll have time to cause too much trouble this year.
Oh! And just for fun, tell me your favorite Christmas (or whichever holiday you celebrate) tradition!
Mine? Well my son’s birthday is December 14th, so we don’t decorate or put up a tree until the 15th, so his day is special for him. If we put lights on the house, they are “birthday lights” – we had him convinced when he was younger that all of the lights people were putting up were in honor of his birthday!
No Goofy link this time – just a really cool website with tons of HP art by Glockgal – she rocks! I love her stuff (though my sister says that the freckles on the Weasleys look like chicken pox!)

She even drew a picture just for me! It’s Charlie Weasley with Lockheed from the X-men! Er – I used to be a big X-men geek, and Lockheed is a dragon, BTW. How cool is that?
