I know this is totally unrelated to anything in any way, but…. I am in a very weird mood today, and so I ask you this question: How many of you are -- or know someone who is – blind in one eye?
I went blind in one eye about two years ago, and I can’t believe the number of people I have talked with since that are also blind in one eye! It’s almost freaky. There’s like a whole army of one-eyed people running around, unbeknownst to the rest of us! It frightens me enough that I am out on the road with only partial vision, but there appears to be many, MANY more out there as well! Maybe we could start a club! The Cyclops Society or something. No? Probably not.
Anyway, hopefully my strangeness has not chased you away, because there are some reviews to Chapter Five – A Complicated First Day that need responses:
Curlious - Thank you! Yes, we will be seeing more of Rupert; in fact, he’s going to end up being a very big part of the story before the end! I hope you’ll stick with me to find out how!
HarryPotterFan777777 - Do you really think that Harry, Ginny & company’s tale could be told as one shot? That’s a pretty tall order! I won’t say, “no,” because there’s always a chance. At this point, though, I don’t really have any plans for a pre-history to the Foreshadowing stories. I may end up sticking in one-shots here and there that are off shoots of the current stories, though, that tell certain aspects of the tale through another character’s POV. You’re partially correct about the hands, but wandless magic and Connor’s Precog abilities aren’t all there is to it!
dakkon13 - Thanks Ben! It’s a bit disturbing how much you love Snowball! He gives me the collywobbles, personally! ;) We may see signs of early crushes developing, and not just among Connor and the gang!
Megglett - The Yage was just an accident, I’m afraid, though it was very nearly a costly one! Connor did have an interesting first day back, and it will only get more interesting as the year progresses! And – you get to go to Italy?!?! I am so jealous! I kick myself occasionally for turning down the chance to go to Naples when I was in High School – the only downside was that the friend (just a friend) who wanted to take me wanted to tell his family we were engaged. My parents weren’t too keen on that and said ‘no.’ Ah well, I hope you have a marvelous time!!
SHEla WOLFsbane - Hi honey! You’re absolutely right – family has to stick up for each other, whether we like it or not! LOL! Lots of guesses about Connor’s hands are being bandied about, but do you really think I’d give it away this early in the story? It’s fun to try to figure it out, though, and a lot of people are going about their guessing the right way. I’m trying to be subtle in my hints, though I’m not so sure how clever I really am!
UncleBrad - Thanks for the vote of confidence! I think if I had a first day like that, I’d be trying to catch the next train home! You’ll get to know Ms Grayson a bit better in future chapters. I really like her, and there’s a lot of story that she’s waiting to tell, though it may not all come out at once. I seem to have done a good job of making Vanessa a villain – everyone seems so sure that she’s going to suddenly pounce and pull something truly evil out of her hat! LOL! I am diligently plugging away at Chapter Nine right now, in the few quiet minutes a get a each day. Chapter Six should be ready (beta-ed and all) by next Monday, so stay tuned!
LadyLupinLover - Aiden is one of your favorite characters? Really? I don’t know why but that makes me happy! Aiden is actually one of my favorite names, but my husband wouldn’t let me use it to name either of our boys – it sounds awful with our last name! The wandless magic and itchy hands might be related, but that’s not all there is to it.
Kyki Rivera - Thank you (*laughs because it seems like you’re surprised*)! I hope you continue to like it!
magadorag - Thank you! That gives me warm fuzzies! Clive’s gift to Connor will paly a role in the next chapter or two. You’ll see that it has its uses, and its drawbacks. Rupert is a bit more tolerant than Dudley, that’s true. I think that Kyle (his brother) is pretty much his saving grace. Rupert admires Kyle, who is basically a good person, and so wants his brother to be proud of him. Unfortunately, Rupert’s had his father and grandparents influences very strongly in his life, and they baby him, and are molding him as well, leaving behind a conflicted kid.
Oh Yeah! I apologize to whomever asked me why I didn’t post this on Schnoogle instead of TDA on Fiction Alley – I forgot to answer that one! The reason is because I didn’t know how. Seriously. There’s something different you have to do to start a Schnoogle fic, and I didn’t want to have to figure it out -- besides the fact that FTP was already in TDA. I kind of wrote Foreshadowing the Past with some vague notes and an idea of how I wanted it to end, but not sure if it would ultimately meet the Schnoogle length requirements. Rest assured that Foreshadowing the Unexpected is not vague in any way, and I know exactly how each chapter is going to pan out.
Also, the goofy link of the day: I follow this comic strip every day. I don’t know why, but it’s my soap opera. It’s really goofy and the stories are all basically the same, but I’ve been reading it for YEARS. Seriously. Brenda Starr has been around since like, the 1940’s or something!
