May. 25th, 2007 05:43 pmSo, yesterday was the last day of school for my kids, and it was SO much fun! My youngest son’s first grade class had a pirate party for the last day, and I helped out as room mother. I wore an awesome black velvet pirate hat and an eye patch over the eye I’m blind in, anyway. I was even a big dork, and used a gravelly pirate voice and made everyone giggle a lot.
( The games we played! )
After the party, all three first grade classes came outside and we served them snow cones (the PTO owns a snow cone machine). We had plain snow ones all made up before hand, so they just had to choose a flavor, and we poured it on. It worked out well!
It’s been a heck of a year, but I really loved it. I’m getting more out of helping out than the kids are, I think.
Then, when I got home and took out my youngest kid’s report card, and found that his teacher had slipped in a really nice thank you note and a generous gift card to the Cheesecake Factory. I was floored, but really pleased. My older son’s teacher gave me a gift card to the Cold Stone Creamery for doing Art Masterpiece in her room this year, too. I wasn’t expecting either gift, so it was such a nice surprise.
Other than that, we went to the library, and my kids got their first library cards, and I got three audio books, all by Eoin Colfer. I'm loading them into my computer, so I can listen to them later. If anyone wants The Opal Deception, Half Moon Investigations or The Supernaturalists, let me know, and I will see about sending the files.
The boys are bickering a bit, as is normal, but nothing I can't quell with daily beatings. :-P
Hope everyone else is doing well!
