Would you believe that I finished Chapter 27 – The Wait, and have sent it off to my beta? I can hardly believe it myself!! I am even currently part way into Chapter 28 – The Conclusion, though I have a feeling it will take me a while to write, just make sure I haven’t left any major ends unties or anything. I’ll just have to see how it goes. I have a doctor’s appointment on Friday, that will hopefully see me being backed off of the steroids, and hopefully the side-effects will go away, as well. That would be good.

Could someone good with LJ help me out? I find that when ever I click on a name on my flist, I end up being taken to their LJ from a month ago, instead of the current entry. Why? How do I fix this? I’ve even trimmed down my communities and whatnot so that I have a better chance of seeing when friends are posting, but to no avail. Little help?

Additionally, My computer is doing stuff without my permission again, and so I may be forced to take it to be fixed before I do much else. If I disappear without contact for a few days, that would be why. I can try to check my journal and e-mail from my sister’s house if you need me for anything, feel free to leave a comment or send me a line, but don’t worry if you don’t get an answer right away.

That being said: If I am computerless by Friday, I don’t want to forget to wish velvethope a very Happy Birthday on the 10th

He is great fun to write – if you check my favorites, there is a short in there about the Origin of Snowball, if you want to check it out! Memories of Mom.

Is this funny, or just terribly sad? One of the last memories I have of my mother, of spending quality time alone with her, was when we were on a road trip traveling through Texas. We had been seeing these road side billboards advertising a pottery outlet for about a hundred miles. We thought it sounded like fun, so we faithfully checked the correct exit, and got off the freeway. Then when we reached the intersecting road, there was no indication of whether to turn right or left. We couldn’t really see much either way we looked, as we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so we just randomly chose to turn left.

Not knowing how far this place might be, or how big it was, we just kept driving, seeing nothing but farmland. Finally, we decided that if we didn’t see anything in another mile or so, we’d turn around and try the other direction. We weren’t in any hurry, after all. That’s when we saw it. A road sign that read: Elysian Fields 7 mi.

I don’t know why I suddenly remembered that story. It’s not anywhere near the anniversary of my mother’s death or anything – it’s not even the same time of year that we took that trip. It just popped into my head, and I thought I’d get it down in writing, so to speak.

We didn’t go to the Elysian Fields that day (though I kinda wish we’d gone to check it out), but we did find the pottery outlet about a half a mile in the direction we should have gone in originally. I still have the mixing bowl I bought that day.
